OPPOSITES ATTRACT

Image
Hey Dolls,  I don't think I will ever grow tired of stripes. I bought this skirt last year from "Charming by Jessica Dee" and I love the beautiful bold orange stripes (may appear red in pictures).  The weather in Dallas has been amazing so I decided to pair this skirt with a denim jacket turned vest (I've been cutting the sleeves off of everything lately). I love to mix opposites so here I took a somewhat fancy skirt and mixed it with casual denim. Don't be afraid to do this. You know what they say....opposites attract!  With Love, Kiah

Hey Dolls,  Today, I decided to pull out my wide leg jeans. I knew I wanted to wear my new "Pilgrim" hat that I scored from H&M, but I couldn't decide on a top. While looking through my closet, I stumbled upon this bodysuit which has the "sporty" netted sleeves and...BAM! May I present to you sporty...no maybe hippie...better yet...pilgrim chic! lol Hat: H&M Necklace and Earrings: Karla Deras Jeans: Lane Bryant (old) Shoes: Vintage Have a great weekend! Love, Kiah

WHY I LOVE FASHION I CAN'T AFFORD

Image
Hey Dolls,  Those of you that follow my social media outlets know that I absolutely LOVE high end designer fashion. You may wonder why I share these things but you never see me wearing them. Well I’m here to tell ya!  When I was a young girl, I grew up on an Indian Reservation in a very small town. The only store in town that carried clothing was called “Yellow Front”. We didn’t even have a Wal-Mart! Can you believe that?! My only knowledge of fashion was through television and my mom’s magazines (and she had LOTS of magazines!) Chanel, Gucci, YSL…I knew I would never touch much less wear. But oh how they inspired me!  For some, fashion is something that you put on just so you won't be naked (shout out to my hippie souls..lol), some use it to make them feel pretty or special. While for others, fashion is sort of a form of art or expression. Because I couldn’t afford these glorious items, it pushed me to create my own vision and tap into my creativity using the things in my clo

BLOGGING: WHAT'S YOUR MOTIVATION?

Image
Motivation is essential to achieve any type of success whether it is in business, fitness, relationships, or even blogging. Webster’s Dictionary defines motivation as “the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action;” and “the reason for the action.” When I started blogging I asked myself the following questions: What type of incentive am I seeking? What will make me feel sufficient? When will I feel that I’ve achieved enough? Basically, what was my goal or desired outcome? The answers to these questions were very important for me because they determined where my motivation was coming from; me or others. First and foremost, let me state my motivation. Many don’t know this, but for me, blogging has been a self-help mechanism.   I have not always been plus size. I was involved in an accident that left me with a back injury. Due to this injury I could no longer run or exercise and I gained 80lbs! Family and friends stated their disbelief of my new girth r

SPRING INTO STRIPES

Image
Hey Dolls, Stripes are back with a bang for Spring, particularly black and white stripes. I love to mix stripes with other prints like florals, checks, dots, houndstooth, or with a solid bold color (cobalt, chartreuse, red, hot pink).  Today, I decided to do something a bit more traditional by rocking stripes with basic black.  Sunnies: Target (in store only) Necklace: Macy's (old) Bracelet: Ann Taylor Watch: Michael Kors Striped Sweater: Lane Bryant (sold out) Leather Panel Side Slit Skirt: Nordstrom Rack (old) Shoes: Lane Bryant (sold out) Will you be stepping into black and white stripes for Spring? WOOL PASTELS

Image
Hey Dolls,  Pastels are going to be all the rage for Spring. I love pastels and when I wear them I feel soft, feminine and romantic. I'm so ready for Spring I could scream, so I found a way to rock pastels even in these cool months. Pastel colored wool! Wool is warm and can be found in a wide range of colors. I always opt for soft flat wool that doesn't irritate or itch.  Oh Spring, where art thou? This bi-polar weather here in Dallas is seriously getting on my nerves. One day it's 30, the next it's 80! UGH! So over it!  Sunnies: Vintage Earrings: Kate Spade Shirt: Lane Bryant (old) Jacket: (old but you can find Tahari here ) Pants: Jessica London (old) Shoes: Gianni Bini With LOVE, Kiah
