BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Image
February is Black History Month. During this month we pay tribute to the contributions our black ancestors have made to us and our nation. One of my favorite black ancestor's is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King's efforts to end racial segregation and racial discrimination ultimately ended his life but his legacy lives on. He wanted us as a people, not just black people, to live together united as one nation. I believe that Dr. King would be proud to see how far his great initiative and wonderful words of encouragement have brought us! It is important to learn about our history. ALL history!! Some people believe that one race built this country and that is false. ALL races helped build this country. I encourage you to read up on some of your black history. You may be surprised at what you learn! Did you know that a black man invented peanut butter? The 1st traffic light? The water guns your kids use? It is my prayer that we continue to live as one nation under God, lovin

STRIPES FOR SPRING

Image
I will be rocking a lot of stripes for spring! I only wish that someone would design more vertical (slimming) striped items for us plus-ies! I am super excited to present my very 1st Old Navy purchase. I have been to O.N. before but was not impressed. I also try and stay away from franchises because you end up seeing yourself every where you go! lol Well, the other day my hubby and I were walking around the outlets when I spotted this cute little skirt in the O.N. window. I did what any other smart woman would do and ventured in. Consequently, I ended up at the right place at the right time because they were having an extra 50% off of clearance sale. I can't wait to show you all the things I walked out with! ;-) Top: Ralph Lauren Skirt: Old Navy Trench Coat: Calvin Klein Shoes: Target Necklace: Vintage Anne Klein With Love, Kiah

I'M ALL BLACK AND BLUE

Image
I found this fabulous vintage blouse at one of my spots (yes, it's only for me lol) and it matched my vintage turban-ish hat that my G-Ma gifted me perfectly! I paired both with my wide leg pleated pants from Asos Curve. I have really been having fun with styling lately and last night my heart told me that this is truly my passion! Fashion that is. Fashion blogging. It is so different doing something you love (styling) vs. doing something you have to do (work)!! Some day I hope I can bring the two together! ;-)   I don't know what I was saying in the picture above but I was obviously annoyed with something or SOMEONE!! lol  With Love, Kiah

WILD AND BLUSHING

Image
I love to mix things up. I'm of mixed breed so its only natural! lol I started off with this soft pale palette and then I kicked it up a notch by adding my G-Ma's vintage fur cape that she gifted me. The cape being fur is from the wild while the things underneath are quiet, innocent and blushing (the color of the pants) to be seen mingling with the wild! ;-) Fur Cape: Gifted from my G-Ma's closet Ruffle Front Blouse: Oldie Blush Pants: Asos Curve Handbag: Chanel Necklace: Gifted Earrings: Gifted Sunnies: Ralph Lauren Watch: Michael Kors Shoes: Modern Vintage This is my 1st post in Google+ and so far I love it!  Be sure to join my Google+ circle .  You can also follow my  Pinterest  boards! COLOR BLOCKED L.B.D.

Image
Every woman should own a little black dress (L.B.D.). They are classic yet simple and easy to accessorize. How about a color blocked L.B.D.!! I found this cute dress at Lane Bryant during my holiday visit to Arizona and I loved it!  I thought it a great unexpected twist on the basic little black dress.    Color Blocked Dress: Lane Bryant Lace Tights: Avenue Booties: Sam Edelman With Love, Kiah

A GIRLS NIGHT OUT

Image
This week is Dallas Fashion Week. Last night I went to my 1st fashion show at The Black Academy of Art and Letters with Chastity from The Curvy Girl's Guide to Style . When we got there we ran into another Dallas blogger, Isabel from Dallas Fashion Calendar . I also met an up and coming plus size swimwear designer Elle Bee Swim . Stay tuned for her debut! This fashion show caught Chastity and my special attention because it featured a plus line. Although the plus line did not fit my personal style, we did see some amazing pieces from a straight size designer by the name of Lyza Faye. I had a great girls night out and it was fun dressing up! This is what I wore. Me with Chastity. Doesn't she look amazing! She wore a dress by Jibri, shoes from Shoe Dazzle and Asos coat. Isabel, Chastity and Me (sorry about the fuzzy pic) Me with Isabel Me and Chastity again. I wore a dress by Christina Ehlrich, Rachel Zoe vest and Steve Madden booties. This dress has 3 high slits. THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF JEAN PAUL GAULTIER

Image
My daughter and I went to see the "The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk" at the Dallas Museum of Art. The exhibition featured six different thematic sections tracing the influences from the streets of Paris to the world of science fiction that have marked the couturier's creative development. The Odyssey of Jean Paul Gaultier, The Boudoir, Skin Deep, Punk Cancan, Urban Jungle, and Metropolis features approximately 130 ensembles from the designer's couture collections, as well as from his prêt-à-porter line, along with their accessories.  Created between 1976 and 2010, the majority of these pieces have never been exhibited. The most unique and interesting thing about the entire exhibition were the mannequins. Placed throughout the galleries, 30 animated, talking mannequins, including one of Gaultier, add an extra dimension to the lively atmosphere by surprising visitors with their lifelike presence and spontaneous commentary. PONCHO-ED

Image
It has been FREEZING in Dallas the past couple of days so I decided to pull out my poncho. I remember ponchos being quite popular on the "REZ" back in the day but I don't see them that often now a days. I found this one at a local thrift store for only $2!!!
